Introducing the Townhouse Atelier

Nestled in the heart of our Edinburgh Townhouse is our new atelier space; a space dedicated to the art of craftsmanship and restoration. Our incredible workshop partners in Ubrique Spain create every single Strathberry bag by hand, so it was important to us to bring this beauty of leathercraft to our home of Edinburgh, Scotland.

The female-led Atelier is a unique space led by our Head Craftsperson, Manon, where every piece created is made to stand the test of time, and every detail is considered. This new space will allow us to offer restoration, craft salpas, and even create samples of our newest designs right here in Scotland.

Our lead artisan, Manon has been working with leather for the past 15 years. She learnt her trade in France, before moving to London to work with a range of global brands, and now she’s at the heart of Strathberry in Edinburgh.

We asked Manon a few questions about her role and the new Atelier space:

What is the best thing about your role?

The best thing about my job is getting to see the transformation in products every day. It is amazing what a bit of TLC can do. Sometimes, we forget that these bags are made to stand the test of time, sometimes, it is just about learning how to care for them.

 What is your favourite bag?

My favourite bag in the collection is the Mosaic Top Handle, as it has 67 pattern pieces (which I have pride of place in the Atelier) and it has over 2000 stitches.

What is your favourite job to do in the Atelier?

My favourite job is pattern cutting, as I find it so therapeutic. Our smooth Spanish leather is just so wonderful to work with.
